* Tape commodity code = 866. Tape unit of measurement = stocks (head).
**Tape commodity code = 976. Tape unit of measurement = stocks (head).
***Tape commodity code =1016. Tape unit of measurement = stocks (head).

@ @ Annual growth rates are computed by least squares regression from log transformation of the data for each year of the period.

NEGL = Negligible, ie growth rate <0.05.

Country geographical and income groupings:

· Sub-Saharan Africa: States located principally south of the Saharan desert, but excluding South Africa, Namibia, Equatorial Guinea, Djibouti, Sao Tome and Comoros, Seychelles and Reunion.

· L.I.S.A. = Low income semi-arid; L.I.O. = Low income others; M.I.O.I.= Middle income oil importing; M.I.O.E. = Middle income oil exporting. For list of countries in each group, see Annex 1.

*Equines: The total is composed of figures for:

Horses: Tape commodity code = 1096. Tape unit of measurement = stocks (head).
Mules: Tape commodity code = 1110. Tape unit of measurement = stocks (head).
Asses: Tape commodity code = 1107. Tape unit of measurement = stocks (head).

**Tropical Ruminant Livestock Unit (TRLU) is a standard unit of 250 kg of liveweight by which ruminant livestock of different species can be compared. The conversion rates for individual species are:
camel = 1.0, cattle = 0.7, and sheep and goats = 0.1 each.

@ @ Annual growth rates are computed by least squares regression from log transformation of the data for each year of the period.

NEGL = Negligible, ie growth rate <0.05.

For the purpose of this table camels are defined as ruminants.
A blank space means data not available.
For the definition of income groups and list of countries in each group, see Table 1 and Annex 1.
