Poverty
information: This information is based on the national household welfare monitoring
surveys of 1997 (most Districts) and 1994 (northern and northeastern
Districts). The absolute poverty line is defined as the minimum amount of
money required for households to afford ‘basic needs’ food and
non-food items (in 1997, this was KSh 1,239 AE-1
month-1
in rural areas and KSh 978 in 1994)Data
