Bibliographic database:
ILRI maintains a bibliographic database of over 140,000 references of documents dealing
with livestock research and development in tropical developing countries. These references are locally generated or
extracted from AGRIS. This database is available on the LAN at
ILRI-Ethiopia and on CD-ROM at ILRI-Kenya and at ILRI's zonal sites. The references for which we have copyrights are now
available for searching on this web site.
The ILRI-Ethiopia library also maintains a serials database that lists
the serials holdings of both ILRI-Kenya and ILRI-Ethiopia library. Currently, the database
consists of about 1100 references to reputed scientific and technical journals and other
serial publications, most of which are related to Animal Agriculture.
Time-series database:
This database, which is mounted on the LAN at ILRI-Kenya, provides comprehensive
statistical information on livestock production and trade and human populations, with data
drawn from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) AGROSTAT
database and the United Nations Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other published
sources. The database contains 411,287 records encompassing information from 231 countries
of the world over the last 34 years.
ILRI publications database:
The ILRI publications database contains official ILRI publications in full text, as well as the
bibliographical references to articles in peer reviewed journals, monographs or chapters
in monographs, and papers published in proceedings written by researchers in the context of
their work at ILRI. This database can be accessed on the lan at ILRI-Nairobi and ILRI-Ethiopia,
as well as on this website.
If a reference contains the mention "FULL TEXT", click on it to access the full text.
Reprint database: The
reprint database contains a collection of reprints relevant to ILRI's programmes from
journals the library does not subscribe to. The database contains 6125 records, of which
about 4000 documents are actually in the library. This database is available on both ILRI
campuses.
Global database of libraries
and information systems for animal agriculture: ILRI has conducted a world-wide
survey of institutions providing information on livestock and related subjects. The aim is
to identify major institutions working in this field and establish partnerships with them
for providing information support to global research on livestock. This database so far
has profiles of more than 280 institutions.
Training database: This
is a searchable database of all scientists from national agricultural research
systems (NARS) in sub-Saharan Africa trained in centres supported by the Consultative
Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) between 1975 and 1996. The full
database will permit the first detailed analysis of CGIAR contribution to NARS expertise
in sub-Saharan Africa. The database, which contains about 18,000 records, is published on
a CD-ROM.

AGRICOLA: AGRICOLA (AGRICultural
OnLine Access) is a database of
bibliographic records created by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and its
co-operators. The database covers materials dating from the 16th century to the present.
The records describe publications and resources encompassing all aspects of agriculture
and allied disciplines, including plant and animal sciences, forestry, entomology, soil
and water resources, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering, agricultural
products, alternative farming practices and food and nutrition. Auxiliary subjects that
support NAL's Information Centre activities, such as agricultural trade and marketing,
rural information, and animal welfare, are also included. AGRICOLA does not
contain the materials themselves; but it can help you identify and find them, and you can search AGRICOLA via the World WideWeb. (For information on how to get NAL materials, see NAL's Document Delivery Services Web site.)
AGRIS: AGRIS

and technology literature world-wide. Assembled by the
AGRIS Co-ordinating Centre, the Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United Nations (FAO) , AGRIS offers
an international perspective on crucial agricultural
research. The many aspects of agriculture, including
forestry, animal husbandry, aquatic sciences and
fisheries and human nutrition from over 135
