Impacts of innovations in livestock systems on livelihoods and poverty
Work in this area focuses on understanding and quantifying the contributions of livestock to the livelihoods of the poor, in different systems and contexts. Multiple dimensions of poverty are explored, using indicators relating to income, assets, food security, nutrition or vulnerability. Livestock interventions with potential for reducing poverty and vulnerability and achieving equity are piloted with research, development and private sector partners and the results are disseminated for wide scale application. The results of this research inform livestock research, policy, and development agendas.
