Dr Girma TaddeseDr Girma Taddese, a specialist in soil science and soil and water management, is currently working for the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). Dr Girma holds MSc degree in soil science from the Tashkent Agricultural Institute, and a PhD degree from Uzbek Academy of Sciences, both in the former Soviet Union. Before joining ILRI, Dr Girma worked as a natural resources expert for the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) from 1982-86, and as a research officer for the Institute of Agricultural Research (IAR) from 1989-98. In 1998, Dr Girma joined ILRI where he is currently responsible for overseeing the water management and soil degradation component of the Comprehensive Assessment (CA) project as well as the impact of livestock grazing on natural resources. Dr Girma has more than 15 years of research experience in water management and another four years in project formulation and planning.
