Dr. Augustine Ayantunde is an animal scientist. He holds a PhD in ruminant nutrition and has more than 10 years of research experience in ruminant nutrition, rangeland management, analysis of pastoral and agro-pastoral systems, and crop-livestock modelling. He is leading a project on identification of livestock-based risk management and coping strategies to reduce vulnerability of pastoral and agro-pastoral systems to climate change, particularly droughts, in East and West Africa.

His areas of expertise include evaluation of feed resources in the West African Sahel, ruminant nutrition, evaluation and monitoring of natural resource use in pastoral and agro-pastoral systems, assessment of vulnerability of pastoral and agro-pastoral systems in arid and semi-arid sub-Saharan Africa to climate change and variability, participatory assessment of the multiple causes of conflict over natural resource use, and documentation of indigenous ecological knowledge.
