Martin Van Weerdenburg (Australia) was appointed director of corporate services at ILRI in September 2011. Martin has over 30 years of extensive experience in financial management in both public and private sectors. He is versed in implementing business reorganizations, financial reforms, systems and targeted project fundraising. Previously, from October 2009, he worked with IDEA International in Sweden as director of finance and administration, where he also acted as secretary-general during an extended leave taken by the substantive secretary-general. Before joining IDEA International, he worked with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre as director of corporate services from 2004 to 2008 and with Brisbane City Enterprises Ltd from 2002 to 2004 as business development manager. He also worked with the International Food Policy Research Institute as director of finance and administration, based in Washington, DC, from 1997 to 2001. Earlier in his career, Van Weerdenburg held senior positions as an advisor to governments and private companies on corporate services, specifically tax, audit and business reorganization.
