Alongside Euforic, he worked as a freelance agricultural information specialist with the CGIAR ICT-KM Program, several CGIAR centers, FAO, GFAR, and others.
He began his career working with agricultural information - first at the World Bank, then at a Faculty of Agriculture in Thailand, then in the CGIAR at the International Service for National Agricultural Research (ISNAR); he spent the past 15 years working in the international development sector, with the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM), the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD), and the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP).
He is particularly interested in more effective collaboration among development organizations, public access to agricultural knowledge and information, and how information and knowledge can be mobilized, shared and communicated to address organizational and development challenges. He has participated in research projects, written articles and reports, established companies, charities and an Internet cooperative, and acted as editor, publisher, evaluator, blogger, webmaster, workshop and e-conference facilitator as well as information specialist and librarian. He is a champion of social ‘web 2.0’ tools and media. He has published widely on information and knowledge management practices; he is member of the Editorial Advisory Board of ‘Information Development.’
Between 2005 and 2010, Peter was President of the International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists – www.iaald.org
