The discussions at this event will be centered around a newly released book, The Impact of the International Livestock Research Institute’. This 700-page, highly referenced, volume provides the first evidence-based global estimates of the many scientific, economic, policy and capacity development impacts of livestock research in and for developing countries. The book reviews 46 years of major achievements, lessons and impacts generated by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and its predecessors, the International Livestock Centre for Africa (ILCA) and the International Laboratory for Research on Animal Diseases (ILRAD), and their many partners.
The launching will bring together ILRI staff, ex-ILRI staff, partners, key development organizations, academics and resaerchers to discuss the impacts of livestock research on sustainable development and look into future challenges and opportunities.
