Brought up in tropical Africa where animal production has remained low despite genetic and disease control efforts, my motivation is developing my career in resilient animal production in climatically changing ecosystems. Improved animal nutrition is key to unlocking livestock potential in the region. My interest is in working with the vulnerable smallholder farmers who rely on livestock as their main livelihood in coming up with practical strategies that can optimize on the available feed and feeding systems for improved animal production. I have interest also in understanding the enteric methane production dynamics with a goal of possible manipulations in ruminant nutrition so as to reduce carbon footprints associated with livestock products.
