Edwin Kang'ethe

Edwin is a public health nutrition specialist with progressive experience in developing innovative solutions for food and nutrition security, particularly the nexus between nutrition, health, agriculture and mobile technology.

As the mNutrition Project Coordinator for ILRI , I provide expertise in enhancing food and nutrition security through data-driven innovation in the light of the emergence of Big Data and related technologies. I represent ILRI’s interests in implementing a GSMA/DFID funded mobile health programme being run by a consortium of five organizations and implemented in 12 developing countries (8 in Africa, 4 in SE Asia). In these countries, I specifically provide quality assurance advisory services for mobile ready health and nutrition content developed for use by respective national governments and mobile network operators/Telcos in nationwide health and nutrition campaigns. In addition, I coordinate the project's implementation in Uganda, Kenya and Pakistan, where I'm responsible for identifying and securing local partnerships (government, Telcos, NGOs, etc.to deliver the project's objective to develop and scale-up the delivery of nutrition messages through agriculture and health mobile phone platforms.
