Julie Ojango

Dr. Julie Ojango is a senior scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) with more than 15 years of experience providing leadership in projects designed to identify appropriate breeds and breed combinations for livestock production systems found in middle and low income countries. She is well versed in dairy cattle and small ruminant production systems in diverse environments of developing countries, has excellent skills in livestock data management and quantitative analyses, and has a good understanding of gender sensitivities in issues related to livestock production. She has good leadership and strong knowledge sharing skills and strives to impart information to transform the livestock sector and develop a next generation to help change the management and use of animal genetic resources in developing countries. She holds a Master of Science in Animal Production (Animal Genetics and breeding) from the University of Nairobi Kenya, and a PhD in Animal Breeding and Genetics from The Imperial college at Wye, University of London, United Kingdom.
