Kevin Maina is an agricultural economist with an interest in research around livestock-based food systems and development. He is currently a doctoral fellow (PhD) with the “Demand and Liquidity Coordination to Foster the Adoption for. Livestock Vaccination” project. He is investigating on smallholder dairy producers’ preferences and the impacts of investing in preventive animal health practices. He is pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Economics at the Center for Development Research (ZEF)-University of Bonn, Germany.
Prior to his fellowship, he has been working as a Consultant at ILRI under Forage Seed Systems Value Chain Analysis in Kenya and Uganda providing statistical and research support. He is interested in research about approaches for scaling agricultural innovations; seed systems; data-driven agriculture including development of mobile data collection platforms. He has amassed experiences in assessing livestock systems, seed systems and business models. He has expertise in developing research protocols, technical reporting and manuscript development, designing and carrying out quantitative and qualitative field surveys.
