Principal Research Scientist and Deputy Director Scientific Programmes Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)

Kizito Lubano is currently the Principal Research Scientist (Epidemiology and Clinical trials) and Deputy Director Scientific Programmes at KEMRI.

Kizito is a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor Surgery (MBChB), and Master of Medicine(MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology degrees from the University of Nairobi; Master of Science in Disease Control (MDC) from Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp Belgium; Diploma in Community- Based Management of HIV and AIDS from Galilee International Management Institute, Israel; Doctorate Business Administration (DBA)- Paris School of Business(PSB) –France and Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI)- Israel.

In the project, Kizito will lead the KEMRI team to study the severity of co-infections in humans, collation and analysis of archived sera, human sampling and co-lead severity of co-infections. In addition, he will lead the team in biosafety and biosecurity training as well as offer stewardship, oversight and project coordination. He is a member of the Project Advisory Committee representing KEMRI.
