Policies, Institutions and Markets

The CGIAR Research Programon Policies, Institutions and Markets will identify the policies and institutions that will enable rural smallholder producers, particularly women, to increase their incomes through better links with markets and equitable access to services and assets. Failures related to policies, institutions, and markets are a major impediment to increasing agricultural growth in the developing world, where a majority of people depend on agriculture for their livelihoods.

The program is led by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and seeks to produce a body of knowledge that decision makers can use to shape policies and institutions that will reduce poverty and promote sustainable rural development.
