Crops to End Hunger (CtEH): Improved fodder crops and forage grasses for Africa
CtEH aims to To deliver improved cultivars for low-income small holder smallholder farmers across Africa, with a special focus on women who are the main livestock keepers in the region.
Overview
CtEH funds are directed towards “one offone-off” investments enabling crop x [FT1] region breeding networks to modernize breeding operations, making them more efficient and effective, and/orand accelerating genetic gains per dollar spent for prioritized product profiles and market segments.
Expected Outcomes
- Establishing the basis for Genomic Selection and GWAS in tropical forages.
- Training young National Agricultural Research and Extension Systems (NARES) scientists in state-of-the-art techniques that they can implement in their own programs.
- Deploying field and laboratory high-throughput phenotyping methods and establishing a community of practice among NARES and key partners.
