Does harvesting Urochloa and Megathyrsus forages at short intervals confer an advantage on cumulative dry matter yields and quality?
Abstract
One of the key consideration in cultivated forages is harvesting at optimal stage for quality and quantity. With forages that are relatively new in given agricultural context, insitu evaluation provided the best recommendation. This was the case for three forage types Brachiaria hybrid -Cayman, Brachiaria cultivar- Basilisk and Panicum cultivar- Mombasa under smallholder cut-and -carry system in Kenya.
