Endline data on pig artificial insemination adoption following short-term subsidy intervention, Uganda.

Abstract

The sample size is 266 which constitutes respondents who took part in the baseline study, as well as those that received subsidized AI. There are equal number of control and intervention farmer groups spread across 4 districts of Masaka, Mpigi, Mukono, and Wakiso. Data was collected using Open Data Kit (ODK) tool by 11 district level enumerators who interviewed farmers from the control and intervention groups. Data was collected on the number of pigs and mating services given to sows during and after 4 month subsidization period; over a 12 month period. Data ws collected from 4th to 29th Aug 2026. The data can be used alongside the baseline data in order to establish whether subsidization of AI has had long time effets on AI adoption at household level as well as the farmer group level.
