

Endale Balcha Gurmu is an academic and researcher specializing in veterinary medicine and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from livestock in sub-Saharan Africa, with over a decade of teaching and research experience at Mekelle University, Ethiopia.
Before joining the ILRI Mazingira Centre as a postdoctoral fellow, he worked at ILRI for two years as a consultant, contributing to various projects focused on modeling GHG emissions from livestock systems in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. He also contributed to the development of the 2024 ILRI Manual on Tier 2 Protocols for enteric methane calculations.
Currently, as a postdoctoral fellow at ILRI Nairobi, he focuses on modeling GHG emissions and evaluating mitigation strategies in livestock systems.
