Diohine's Atos: Landscape harmony built on rotational fallow practices

Abstract

Document Outline
Trajectories of the Serer Agricultural System - We retrace the historical transformations of the agrosilvopastoral system: agricultural expansion, disappearance of fallow, climate effects, demographic dynamics, and agropastoral tensions.
Diohine: A Terroir Resisting the End of Fallow - We describe the functioning of rotating grazing, the knowledge mobilized, the solidarities that make it possible, participatory mapping, tree regeneration, pastoral practices, and contemporary tensions.
Resisting the Accident: Political Insights and Pathways for Participatory Pastoral Management - We discuss the Diohine case in light of agropastoral conflicts and intensification policies; we explore what a local adaptation of PRM could mean, and we propose thinking of pastoral hospitality as a commons to be recognized
and secured.
