Intra-annual sheep price patterns and factors underlying price variations in the central highlands of Ethiopia

Abstract

Presents results of a survey conducted in nine key Ethiopian central highland markets for a period of one year from January to December 1989, to determine the effects of certain animal and market characteristics on price and the pattern of sheep prices in relation to seasons. Each market was surveyed once a week on the main market day, and price, weight, set, age, colour, condition score, breed and buyers purpose, hence observed factors underlying changes in mean were recorded.
