Scaling Coalition Executive Progress Summary

Abstract

In 2025, the Scaling Coalition evolved from an initial concept into an operational multi‑organization alliance committed to advancing the scaling of agrifood innovations. Founding partners—including CGIAR, FAO, the World Bank Group, GIZ, and later the Gates Foundation—established a shared vision, guiding principles, and a lean governance model supported by a CGIAR–GIZ Secretariat. Progress centered on three priority workstreams. The Interoperability stream delivered shared standards, a federated systems approach, and a time‑bound action plan with pilots. The Capacity Sharing stream defined coordinated capacity development areas and initiated a comprehensive stocktaking exercise across organizations. The Partnerships and Membership stream strengthened outreach, aligned with global communities of practice, and launched a Communication Working Group to support coherent external engagement. Public visibility increased through participation in major international events. In 2026, the Coalition will transition toward implementation, advancing an AI‑enhanced scaling strategy module, formalizing governance, and launching joint actions informed by stocktaking results.
