
ILRI at the One Health Summit | Lyon, France 2026
About the event
The One Health Summit takes place in Lyon, France from 5 to 7 April 2026. Hosted by France as part of its G7 Presidency, it is the first summit to bring together Heads of State and Government alongside international organizations, scientists, civil society, and youth around a shared global health agenda. The Summit theme is: Ecosystems, plants, animals, and humans: an action and solutions summit to better the health of all life and the planet.
Sessions cover the interconnection of human, animal, plant, and ecosystem health, with specific focus on zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, sustainable food systems, and pollution.

On the road to Lyon
Ahead of the Summit, ILRI contributed to three satellite workshops across Africa and Asia.
- Hanoi, Vietnam — Strengthening One Health Governance and Science-Policy Dialogue — A One Health Festival event examining how evidence from national and regional One Health programmes can inform policy and governance decisions, with a focus on Vietnam's experience. - Harare, Zimbabwe (24–26 March) — COHESA regional workshop for participants from 12 East and southern African countries, organized by ILRI in partnership with CIRAD and ISAAA. The workshop centered on preparing for a regional One Health network to succeed COHESA, covering governance, structure, and funding mechanisms.
- Makati City, Philippines (26–27 March) — ASEACA Philippines kick-off workshop— A national co-design workshop bringing together 44 participants from government agencies, academic institutions, and international organizations to define priorities for zoonotic disease surveillance, cross-sector coordination, and policy development. ILRI participated alongside SEARCA and CIRAD, with implementation planned in Pampanga and Bukidnon provinces through 2029.
