Pastoral Ecological Knowledge and Land Degredation Neutrality (LDN): Assessing the capacity for pastoral ecological knowledge (PEK) to create long-term commercial sector support for LDN

The Rangeland Stewardship Council (RSC) is dedicated to advancing the sustainable management of global rangelands, recognising their pivotal role in supporting human livelihoods, ensuring food security, and preserving biodiversity. The RSC is non-profit organisation that operates to facilitate connections between private, commercial interests whilst promoting responsible stewardship practices that harmonise the production of essential resources with the conservation of wildlife habitats and the mitigation of climate change. Ecological Knowledge (PEK). A recently completed study into how PEK can benefit formal rangeland monitoring seeks to elevate pastoral knowledge to a key role in verifying impact. This research has resulted in a blueprint for expanding monitoring to pastoral contexts globally that works within the financial and logistical constraints compelled by private sector involvement.
