Scientist-Food Safety and One Health

Kebede Amenu, who has a background in veterinary medicine, is an experienced expert in the field of food safety in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Kebede holds a PhD in Agricultural Sciences with a focus on food safety and water quality from the University of Hohenheim, Germany, an MSc in Epidemiology from the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Belgium , and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Addis Ababa University. Until recently, Kebede was a faculty member at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Addis Ababa University. Currently, he is a postdoc researcher at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. With years of research and teaching experience in animal health and food safety, he has authored or co-authored more than 56 scientific papers published in reputable international journals. His current research focuses on the epidemiology of foodborne diseases and interventions designed to improve food safety, with a particular emphasis on informal or traditional food value chains.
