Dr. Mohamed Habibou Assouma is a Senior Animal Scientist with CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development), specializing in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ruminants and the climate footprint of livestock systems. He has been based at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi since August 2025, working at the Mazingira Research Station as a joint appointee. His research focuses on livestock production systems, crop–livestock integration, and climate footprint assessment in Sub-Saharan Africa, with particular emphasis on animal feed balance tools. He has led and contributed to regional research and development projects addressing climate resilience and sustainable resource management across the region.
