Private sector investor guidelines for rangelands and their restoration

Abstract

For private sector stakeholders, rangeland restoration is a strategic imperative to reduce supply chain risk and stabilize production systems. For investors, rangelands represent a risk-adjusted opportunity to stabilize supply, reduce volatility and align with emerging regulatory and market requirements for nature-positive production. These investments differ from more conventional agricultural models that rely on input intensification and short-term return cycles. Market demand for sustainably produced livestock, fibre and leather is increasing, but increasingly influenced by corporate commitments on climate, biodiversity, and deforestation-free supply chains. Where credible buyers or off-takers are engaged, restoration outcomes can be translated into more stable and, in some cases, premium market access.
