Anne-Marie Schryer-Roy

Team Leader, Strategic Communications and Outreach

Anne-Marie is an experienced communication and advocacy strategist and manager with over 15 years of experience in international development, global health, and humanitarian aid. She has lived and worked in East Africa for nearly 20 years and has traveled and worked extensively across Africa where she has developed and implemented communication and media strategies for dozens of nonprofit organizations and UN agencies. Her work has ranged from introducing new health products—such as vaccines and treatments for infectious diseases—in sub-Saharan Africa, developing education materials for cancer patients in Kenya, supporting the adoption of the 30x30 biodiversity target, documenting environmental change and illegal fishing in Somalia through to developing campaigns to promote disarmament of former soldiers in Sudan.

Prior to joining ILRI, Anne-Marie was the East Africa Policy and Advocacy lead at the International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she developed and coordinated regional policy positions, strategically positioned IRC on key humanitarian policy debates and raised its profile locally and internationally. Previously, she worked at Burness Communications for eight years, supporting organizations in the field of global health and development to help them develop comprehensive communication strategies and promote their issues to relevant audiences.
