Padmakumar Varijakshapanicker

Senior research management coordinator and Country representative Nepal

Padmakumar Varijakshapanicker is a livestock scientist based at ILRI Nepal. He is ILRI’s Country Representative for Nepal and is based at Kathmandu. He manages Asia hub of the  Livestock System Innovation Lab, a Feed the Future initiative of US Government, implemented by University of Florida and International Livestock Research Institute.  Padmakumar is a post-graduate in Tropical Animal Production & Health, graduated from the Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine, University of Edinburgh, U.K.  He has been working in the livestock sector for almost three decades, mostly with international organizations and presently with the International Livestock Research Institute.   He brings with him an impressive global research for development experience, covering fifteen years in the dairy development sector, during which he designed, led, implemented and monitored multilateral projects funded by various donors.  Besides, he has five years of experience in livestock sector policy facilitation and ten years with ILRI in managing dairy animal, small ruminant and pig research for development projects and an NIRS Feed Technology Research Platform.
