
Simon is an agricultural economist with several years of experience in agricultural development, emphasizing smallholder farming systems and inclusive rural transformation. His contributions span projects related to livestock value chains, legume systems, and horticultural development across East and Southern Africa. He has led and supported research, stakeholder engagement, and MEL activities in partnership with NRIs, universities, NGOs, and the FtF innovation Labs for Market Risk and Resilience and Horticulture. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Giessen, Germany. He is currently, playing a central role in developing an interactive food systems model for Kenya, which integrates existing data to explore future food system scenarios to support decision-making. This project is conducted in collaboration with the Sustainable Nutrition Initiative® (SNi) of the Riddet Institute, Massey University.
