East Africa Dairy Development (EADD) project

East Africa Dairy Development (EADD) project

The East Africa Dairy Development project is a regional industry development program led by Heifer International in partnership with ILRI, TechnoServe, the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and the African Breeders Service Total Cattle Management. The goal of this project is to help families living on small 1-5 acre farms lift themselves out of poverty through more profitable production and marketing of milk.

Following successful completion of phase one of the project which was implemented between 2008 and 2013 in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda,  the project received a grant of USD25.5 million to expand its operation in a second five-year phase, from 2014 to 2018, and to scale up the impact from phase one.

Phase two of the project is implemented in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
