

Vijayalakshmy Kennady completed her masters in veterinary sciences in the field of animal physiology. She has good expertise in the field of reproductive animal biotechnology including in-vitro fertilization, animal cloning, stem cell research, sperm transcriptomics, artificial insemination, etc. Before joining ILRI, she was working as an Assitant Professor, Animal Physiology at Veterinary Research Institute, Puducherry. She received six awards, out of which she got three best research thesis awards for her research work during her master's programme. Her main contribution to ILRI is the development of different sustainable projects that mainly concentrate on enhancing the livelihoods of small-scale and marginal livestock farmers in South Asia. Apart from that, she also works for different Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) - ILRI collaborative research projects in the area of Backyard Poultry Genomics, Animal Disease Economics, and Methane Emission and its mitigation. She is also overseeing the communications of ILRI-South Asia. After her joining at ILRI - South Asia, with the support from Dr. H. Rahman; the ILRI-Asia team, and with her sincere efforts, the first issue of the ILRI-South Asia Newsletter has been published and subsequent issues are bein published regularly.
