Survey on Environmental and Land Cover for Pan African Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication campaign

The project is to assess the Status of environment and land use / land cover in three tsetse control areas in Kenya, where the African Development Bank phase one project is being implemented.

This project follows the realisation of a need for an ex ante baseline inventory of environmental states and land use /land cover types in the tsetse control areas that will form a basis of monitoring and evaluation of impacts of tsetse and trypanosomiasis interventions under the PATTEC (Pan African Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication campaign) Programme.

It is intended to provide information on the ex-ant states of the environment and land use / land cover characteristics prior to T&T (tsetse and trypanosomiasis) on key indicators. The project will implement the recently published ILRI report giving guidelines for assessing environmental and socio-economic impacts of tsetse and trypanosomiasis interventions.
