Ms. Gail Amare is head of administration of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Ethiopia where she oversees finance, human resources, supply chain, liaison, security, engineering, and the housing, catering and conferencing units.
Ms. Amare has over 20 years of experience in project and program management. Prior to ILRI, Ms. Amare served for six years as the Director of Ethiopia Country Operations for Management Sciences for Health (MSH), an international public health NGO. Prior to that, she was an assistant vice president of Axiom Resource Management, a management consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. area where she managed a communications and customer service contract for the U.S. Military Healthcare System, and specifically oversaw the federal Web site www.tricare.mil .
Ms. Amare received her M.S. in international development management from The American University’s School of International Service in Washington, D.C. She received her B.A. in public affairs from Michigan State University’s James Madison College. Originally, Ms. Amare is from Silver Lake, Kansas, USA, but is married to US citizen of Ethiopian origin, and has lived in Ethiopia since 2005.
