Range Socio-Ecologist

Caroline Kimani is a driven, dedicated and agile Range Socio-Ecologist with experience in Participatory Rangeland Management, Community Development, Climate Change, One Health, Agroecology, Sustainable Development, GIS/Remote Sensing and Research. She has an enduring passion for empowering rangeland communities which has seen her collaborate with diverse teams and support community outreach programmes among these marginalized communities. She possesses a BSc. in Range Management (Honours) from the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Agriculture and is currently pursuing an MSc in Range Management through the lens of socio-ecological systems.

Caroline is currently a Hub Training Manager for climate action and sustainability planning with Strong Universal Network, Malta. Previously, she has contributed to projects in Dryland Resilience in Turkana, with Danish Refugee Council; Impacts of the LAPSSET Infrastructure Projects on Livelihoods of Communities in Marsabit by Cordaid International, air pollution research in Nairobi with GeoHealth Hub as well as One Health systematic policy review and Community Based Demo site training with Africa One Health University Network. She has also played the role of Research Student Mentor in the Colorado State University for the East African International Research Experience for Students’ Program, Tanzania. 

As a One Health alumnus, Caroline has had the privilege to present the demo site lessons at an international conference (Global Network for Public Health Nurses Conference, Nairobi, 2019) and on TV (Y254 and Capuchin) with fellow alumni. In addition, due to her insatiable passion for environmental conservation, Caroline co-founded My Earth Space Initiative (MESI). This youth-led organization creates awareness to instil a new culture of environmental stewardship. Similarly, she is a 2021 Global Youth Climate Network Ambassador, where she has contributed to a climate action position paper. Moreover, she blogs on conservation to spread awareness on wildlife conservation and sound environmental practices. Besides this, Caroline enjoys a good bike trail, game drive and learning new cultures.
